Welcome to the Coffee Fan and Taster Blog!

I am a fan of coffee, I love to try new flavors from different parts of the world. I started off by brewing my coffee but now I am a Keurig cup freak. It so convenient that I became enamored with the system since the first time I saw it. The only problem with this system is that there are not many options regarding flavors, but I bought the accessory that lets me put my own grounded coffee, that way I can enjoy different types of coffee without restricting myself to the small plastic cups.

I am starting this blog to share my experiences with coffee, but I will not be talking about my trips to Starbucks or any other franchise, I will be trying different types of coffee that I can brew myself. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I will be enjoying my coffee.

My cup of coffee in the morning

Can we really tell when we started developing our taste for coffee? Can we remember our first cup of coffee? Has there ever been an appropriate age to start drinking coffee? Why did we start drinking coffee? These and other questions I did not include have popped up in my head from time to time when I thought about coffee. It might be best if I start by describing my own past experiences.

My gusto for coffee started very late in my life. While I was growing up, my mother would make us (to my brothers and me) instant coffee, since we could not afford a coffeemaker (they were kind of expensive at that time), ground coffee was expensive so a manual coffee maker was out of the question. But even this coffee we would not drink that often, I guess being in a tropical climate with no AC would not encourage you to drink coffee, but I know Cubans drink a lot even though their weather was similar to ours, so I really did not have an explanation as to why I did not develop a craving for coffee that early.

But what I do remember is that it was not a magical experience because honestly I cannot remember my first cup of coffee. Coffee has become so ubiquitous that we really do not pay attention when we drink it. I can tell you that I remember drinking coffee when I graduated college, because I used to have a round table kind of conversation with my colleagues during the famous coffee break in the mid-morning. So, it is really sad that I cannot remember my first cup, but I can tell you now that I appreciate my cup of coffee in the morning, and I enjoy it to the last drop, and keep developing my taste by trying different flavors from different places in the world.
